Storm Preparation

1. Have an outage kit handy
Your outage kit should be prepared ahead of time and should contain the following items:

  • Working flashlight
  • Battery-powered radio
  • Extra batteries
  • Outage numbers
  • Candles and matches (never leave a candle unattended)
  • Standard touch-tone phone (not cordless)
  • Fully charged cell phone

2. Turn your radio on
Stay tuned to your local radio station for updates about restoration progress. Cass County Electric Cooperative will air restoration information during extended outages caused by a major event on these radio stations, so please stay tuned to your radio for restoration progress reports:

  • 790 AM KFGO, Fargo
  • 1100 AM FLAG, Fargo
  • 970 AM WDAY, Fargo
  • 1490 KOVC, Valley City
  • 106.1 FM KQLX, Lisbon

3. Report your outage and any details you know. Call 701.356.4499 or 1.888.277.4424.
It is important that each outage is reported. CCEC's automated outage reporting system helps us identify outages and respond to them quickly. With the IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system, members are able to call in and report an outage and give specific information. This process helps CCEC pinpoint the problem, so that line crews know exactly where to go to begin the restoration process. It is important that CCEC has member's current phone numbers as the IVR responds directly to the number the member is calling from. Please call and update your number or write your current information on the back of your next bill.
